The best and worst of the 2017 Penn State football season

The 2017 Penn St. football season was not a great one for Penn State.

The team was a total train wreck and the program was mired in controversy for years after the Jerry Sandusky child molestation scandal.

The school has struggled to stay afloat and in 2017 the team’s best player, running back Dalvin Cook, committed suicide in his dorm.

Penn State’s football program also struggled, as the team fell from first place in the Big Ten West Division to seventh in the conference.

While the school is now in the midst of a rebuilding effort, Penn State is one of the best in college football, and one of just three schools that has the No. 1 defense in the country.

For those looking to watch Penn State play the Michigan Wolverines this Saturday at 1 p.m.

ET, I have put together my list of the five best games this season.

5.

Pittsburgh vs. Northwestern (Nov. 22, 3:30 p.mt.)

The Fighting Illini beat Penn State for the first time since 2000 and the Badgers are looking to extend their win streak to 11 games when they take on the Big 10’s second-ranked Wildcats on Sunday at 1:30 pm ET.

After losing to Penn State in Week 2, Northwestern had a bye and then defeated the Badger in Week 6.

Penn State has a three-game winning streak against Northwestern and the Wildcats have lost two straight in the series.

3.

Washington State vs. Oklahoma State (Nov, 26, 7:30 a.m.)

The Cougars won their second straight game to reach 4-0 after beating Oregon State 34-24 on Thursday.

Washington St. is now 9-1 and Oklahoma State is in a tie for fifth place in Pac-12 play with Arizona.

Oklahoma State has the third-best defense in football and Washington St., on the other hand, has the fourth-best offense.

2.

Iowa vs. Florida State (Dec. 1, 2 p.t.)

The Hawkeyes are now 12-1 with the win over Michigan State.

Iowa is ranked No. 4 in the AP poll and the Golden Flashes have the best record in the nation.

Fresno State lost its first two games against ranked opponents, including a 33-0 drubbing of Northwestern in Week 1.

But the Golden Eagles have a bye this week and then travel to Florida State on Sunday.

1.

Georgia vs. Georgia Tech (Dec, 8, 1 p,m.)

Georgia Tech is now 10-0 with the loss to Georgia.

The Yellow Jackets are one of two teams to win 10 games or more.

Georgia Tech has won nine of its last 10 games.

On Nov. 18, the Yellow Jackets lost to Florida Atlantic and the Bulldogs won their first road game of the season.

The win over Florida Atlantic gave Georgia Tech a 5-0 start to the season and the Yellow Jacket won its second straight.

Now, the Bulldogs are 9-0 in the ACC and Georgia Tech is No. 9 in the BCS standings.

Here are my five best wins of the year: 5) Florida vs. Penn St.(Nov. 25, 1:45 p.w.)

The Panthers were ranked No, 10 in the College Football Playoff rankings.

They lost to Penn St., who they beat in Week 5, and were swept by Georgia Tech in Week 4.

Florida is now 15-1 overall and Penn St is 15-2 in the league.

4) USC vs. LSU (Nov., 5, 1 a.l.)

The Trojans were ranked fourth in the FBS.

They beat LSU, who they won, in Week 3.

LSU is now 8-1 in the SEC and LSU is 10-1.

Troy Trojano is now a Heisman finalist and LSU’s season is on the brink of its first BCS bowl appearance since 2007.

Logan Thomas was named the team MVP after the Trojanes lost in the Sugar Bowl.

This was the first meeting between USC and LSU in almost 30 years.

A big reason why is that the Trojanoes defense was so good against LSU last season.
