‘The Walking Dead’ fans mourn at memorials

TAIWAN, Taiwan — More than 200 mourners packed a memorial hall at the TAIYANG Memorial Hall in Taipei Monday for a popular TV series finale, marking a milestone in Taiwanese television history.

It’s the largest audience since the last live broadcast of the series, which aired last summer, the Taiyuan Television Network said.

The TV series was filmed at the same location in Taiwan that was used in the “The Walking Out” episode that aired in the U.S. and Canada in 2016.

More than 1,000 people were in attendance at the event, according to the network.

The TV series ended with Rick Grimes, played by Matthew Rhys, running for mayor of Riverdale, Pa., in a final episode, but the series also had the potential to expand its universe.

The finale showed a group of characters from the show playing out the final weeks of their lives.

The memorial service was organized by the Taiwan Center for Cultural History and Culture and the Taiwan Association of American Students.
