Memorial hall in New Jersey loses another cornerstone

NEWARK — A New Jersey Memorial Hall has lost its fifth cornerstone.

The building, which once served as a university chapel, is now a parking lot for the New Jersey Museum of Art.

The museum says it is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.

It’s the latest loss for the Memorial Hall, which was the focus of a federal investigation after its owner was convicted of raping a woman in 2007.

A memorial plaque and a plaque of remembrance were placed outside the building in November but have since been removed.

The building’s future remains uncertain.
